“I went once more to the Pudong Office in May, long before visa expiration, to check again on the requirements. I pleaded my case, mentioned my age, time in China, situation in my country, and presented medical reports. The officer was ready to give me a 30-day visa right away. He told me I would keep my 10-year L visa the first time, but would lose it if I asked for a second visa later on. He didn’t mention any other conditions.
As it was too early to apply, I said I’d rather come back later and was told to do so 2 or 3 days before visa expiration.
Which I did. I saw another officer that day, who offered me a 60-day visa. The visa was ready 10 days later, a 60-day S2 visa, starting from the day I had applied, and my 10-year L visa was canceled.”
