Hi,A foreigner entered in Shanghai on S2 Visa in December 2019, having visa of 150 days.Registered his residence address 临时住宿登记 ONLINE. On may 4th, visa is expired and got extension of 2 months. Does he need to register his residence again at police station 派出所，Providing he never exit Shanghai and china , nor changed his address in mean time.
If needs to register again, can it be done online or must go to police station.

Nope. No further action required.
At the end of this automatic 2 month extension, if he still needs to stay longer, then he will have to go to an exit-entry bureau and apply to stay longer (probably a stay visa of 30 days).
