I’d like to renew my business visa but the company that provides me with the invitation letter is in Beijing. Is it possible to apply for business visa here in Shanghai?

You are supposed to do it at the exit-entry bureau in Beijing but given the situation there… maybe maybe the Shanghai exit entry bureau in Pudong might be able to do it ( if they still can’t help you out because it falls out of their scope, then they could help think of other ways you could stay longer).
So visit the Exit-Entry Bureau in Pudong on 1500 Minsheng road in-person and speak to a visa officer there on 3F. Best way to get a clear answer.
