Hi there, I am currently in Shanghai on a tourist visa which expires May 2nd. However, it doesn\’t seem the virus is stopping anytime soon. Is there any way i will get an extension on my stay without leaving and coming back. It does not seem safe leaving for a visa stamp and to come back. Thanks a lot.

2-month automatic extension: Starting on March 4th, all foreigners who are currently in China – regardless of visa types, such as tourist visa, business visa, etc – have been extended 60 days automatically. i.e. If your visa shows that it will expire on May 2nd, then you can leave on July 1st(+60 days) at the latest. Airport immigration officers will not give you any trouble leaving China.
If May 2nd is already the end of your 2 month extension then you would have to visit an exit entry bureau and ask for an extension.
