Hello, unfortunately I missed my flight leaving China from Shanghai. It also happens today is my last day of my visa. However seems like I should go to entry exit administration in Shanghai but it’s closed on Sunday and will open only tomorrow. What are the options for me? Apply for some special visa allowing me to stay until I catch next flight or just keep overstaying and pay the fine before leaving?

Hi David,
Safe option: If you want to remain in the good books, then you should visit an exit-entry bureau.
Adventurous option: If you know that you won’t return to China in the next 1-3 years, then you could just overstay, pay the penalty at the airport. (But if lucky, they may also waive the fine due to covid).
If you have the time, I would recommend the safer option.
