Hello, my visa expires sep 15 and I went today for stay permit extension, which I got. They said they only give for one month and I have to come back. Isn’t it that I can use the 60 day overstay after, which means I just don’t apply any more stay permit ? This would be ok as I am planning to leave SH end of the year. Thanks !!

Hi Silke,
That’s correct.
If you have never benefited from the 60-day automatic extension (i.e. if you have never overstayed up to 60 days in China since Feb/Mar 2020), you’re eligible to overstay by 60 days.
